Cement manufacturing is a craft When you visit a cement plant, you see – and smell – it for yourself. It’s not just an industry: it’s a craft. The two main ingredients – limestone and clay – are extracted from quarries nearby. They are then crushed and mixed together in the correct proportions to produce what we call the raw meal.

Next, the raw meal goes into a kiln where it is heated to about 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit. After burning for several days, it transforms into clinker – small, dark gray balls about the size of marbles. The clinker is ground up together with gypsum to make cement powder, which is packaged and shipped off to customers all around the country.

That’s the basic process: raw materials, crushing, heating in kilns and grinding to create cement powder. But one thing that makes our company special is that we don’t just sell cement powder; our customers can also buy ready-mixed concrete from us – pre-made with different kinds of aggregate suited for specific kinds of construction work. We have several concrete mixing plants located around the country where we mix sand or gravel with water and cement powder to create ready-mixed concrete according to customer

Cement is the essential ingredient for making concrete, which is the most widely used construction material in the world. Concrete is a composite of cement and aggregates. The aggregates are crushed stone or gravel and sand.

The entire manufacturing process involves a great deal of craftsmanship, with all the stages requiring close attention to detail in order to deliver a high-quality product. Cementi has been making cement for over 100 years and we have developed our expertise into something we are very proud of.

We start by quarrying raw limestone, then crushing it into small pieces before grinding it into powder in our ball milling machines. We add clay, gypsum and other minerals before heating the mixture in giant cylindrical kilns to create a fine powder known as grey cement clinker. This then goes through a further grinding process before being mixed with gypsum to produce finished cement.

Every step along the way requires care and attention; highly trained personnel are responsible for quality control at every stage of the process, ensuring that our customers receive only the finest products.

What exactly is cement?

Cement is a fine powder made from blending limestone and clay together in a kiln. Once blended, this raw material is heated at temperatures exceeding 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit for several hours. The resulting clinker is ground down with gypsum before being transported for use as an additive in concrete products such as blocks and pavers.
