Well, hello there! Thanks for stopping by my site. So what’s the deal here? I’m glad you asked. The goal of popgoestheweasel.com is to give readers insight into cool places to travel around the world as well as tips on how to plan trips and see the country in a cost-effective way. There are so many places that I have been fortunate enough to visit, and I look forward to sharing those stories with you. In these posts, you’ll read about where I went and what awesome things I did while visiting these destinations. But it doesn’t end there; at least not for you! You’ll also learn all about making arrangements such as travel insurance, lodging, transportation and activities through this blog (and accompanying resources). That way, you can pack your bags and get out there too!

Welcome to the first blog post on Pop Goes the Weasel! This is a site dedicated to making travel a breeze, and hopefully we’ll have you traveling all over the place in no time at all. Let’s talk about why you should be doing more traveling:

You should be traveling more because it’s fun, and it makes you happy. It can be hard to find a reason why you shouldn’t travel, or why you should stay at home. People like to talk about the inconveniences of traveling a lot—how hard it is to get on an airplane for the first time, or how expensive plane tickets are. But in reality, those are all things that people just sort of get over with some practice and experience. As for the money thing: we’ll talk about that later on in this blog!

Let’s go back to talking about how much fun traveling is. There are so many things in this world that you will never do unless you travel—try new foods, meet new people, visit historical sites…it’s all great stuff and everyone should have access to it! So let me tell you why I decided I wanted to write this blog:

Don’t have an immediate reason to travel? That’s okay! There are plenty of reasons to travel, and one such reason is that it can help your mental health. Having something to look forward to during those stressful times at work can be extremely beneficial for your mental health by relieving stress.

It’s no secret that travel can help your mental health. Traveling is a great way to relieve stress by getting away from work and other responsibilities. When you’re traveling, you are able to explore parts of yourself that might be difficult when at home or in your normal routine. For example, if you love city life, visit a big city for the weekend and stay in an Airbnb. If you crave nature, find an Airbnb surrounded by a forest or mountains. It’s so easy to book a trip somewhere because it doesn’t have to be long or expensive—it can be just one weekend! Even if you don’t have any particular reason to travel, going on vacation will lighten your mood and make life more fun!

In today’s world, it’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind that we forget that there’s an entire world out there waiting for us! So much of your life will slip away if you don’t take some time out from work or school and explore other places, cultures, and people.

To take a break from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives and get inside the minds of people who are different from us, you can’t do better than travel. By interacting with other cultures, you’ll open yourself to a world of benefits:

  • For your mental health. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut when you go through your days on autopilot—but travel allows us to shake it up by experiencing new sights and sounds that surprise us out of even the deepest funk. In fact, research has shown that traveling is good for mental health because it helps reduce stress, anxiety, and depression levels.
  • To learn about yourself. If you’re looking for some new perspective on what makes you tick and how others perceive you, travel offers some unique opportunities for self-discovery. When we interact with people from other places, we’re forced to reflect on ourselves and recognize those qualities that make us unique (and those that make us blend in).
  • To understand other cultures. One of the best parts about traveling is getting to experience how people live in places where their customs differ so greatly from our own. It’s also an opportunity to challenge preconceived notions we might have about certain groups of people or countries—and maybe even question why we hold such biases in the first place!

Lastly, this might seem cliche but travel is one of the best ways for you to learn about yourself. You’ll learn what you like and don’t like, how you respond in stressful situations (think lost luggage), and how adaptable you are in general. This is valuable information that could potential change your whole worldview!
