Blue Circle cement is a division of Blue Circle industries, which moved its head office to London in 1998.

Blue Circle Industries was formed in 1900 by William Grant and John Bell to make Portland cement. The company’s origins can be traced back to 1807 when Samuel Johnson founded the Northfleet Cement Works in Kent. In 1900 it changed its name to Blue Circle Cement, after the blue label that was on every bag of cement produced. In 1902 it became a public company named Blue Circle Cement Ltd. It moved into the production of concrete in 1907 when it bought the Concrete Handley Page Ltd, which had developed the first concrete aircraft hangars.[2] In 1920 it merged with the Patent Silica Company Limited and took over the Red Triangle Cement Company Limited to form Blue Circle Cement Group Limited.

In 1928 Blue Circle acquired William Bessborough’s cement works at West Thurrock, Essex, which had been established in 1877 as South Essex Cement Co Ltd, later renamed Newells’ Portland Cement Company Ltd after its acquisition by Francis Newell & Sons.[3] The site was chosen because of its proximity to London, being on the north bank of the Thames at Purfleet. To begin, look at the vertical white lines. These are called columns and they separate the page into sections. In this example there are three columns. Sections are a great way to organize your page. If you want to add sections, click on the plus icon next to a column and choose from the section options. For this example I am going to choose an image with text on top. You can change the color of a section by clicking on it, then choosing from the color options on the left side.

When you add an image, you will see it appear in your section. To change this image, click on it and then select either “upload” or “unsplash.”

To add or remove columns, click on one of the sections, then click on “layout” to see the layout options.

Once you have made all your changes, make sure you save them by clicking “done.”
