What are the differences between HardieBoard, Hardiplank, and other fiber cement sidings?

Fiber cement siding is a great alternative to traditional wood siding. It’s more durable than wood but can still be cut and installed like real wood. Fiber cement is known to have a lower maintenance cost than wood because it does not rot or absorb moisture. Wood siding needs to be painted every few years whereas fiber cement only needs to be painted once in its lifetime. You will never have to worry about termites with fiber cement! The biggest difference between fiber cement and wood comes down to how well they hold up against hail damage or wind-borne debris from hurricanes or tornadoes (for those in the Midwest or Southeast). Fiber cement is much more resistant than wood due to its density and weight which makes it less likely that it will dent as easily during severe weather conditions such as hail storms or heavy winds. Fiber cement siding has also been known to last up to 50

Hardieboard is a type of cement board that is made from regular concrete, which can be hard to work with by hand. It requires a special saw blade and an exact pattern, which makes it much harder to install than other types of siding. The boards come in a variety of colors, including white and green. Hardieboard is not as durable as some other types of siding; however, it can last up to 50 years if properly maintained.

Hardiplank is a type of cement board that is made from a mixture of sand and water. It is much easier to work with than regular concrete because it doesn’t require any special tools or patterns when installing. Unlike many other types of siding materials, hardiplank does not need painting or staining on a regular basis like wood does (once every five years). It also does not require sealing because its surface layer protects against moisture intrusion from rain or snowfall into the home’s interior walls and ceilings where moisture could cause mold growth.”

When it comes to your home, Hardieboard is the best option. It’s durable, lasts longer than other options and requires little maintenance. Hardieboard gives a great appearance and will provide years of protection to your home. It’s resistant to fungus, termites and other pests. Hardieboard is also resistant to fire, which means the heat from a fire won’t spread quickly through your home.

Hardieboard is made up of almost 90% cement and sand, making it extremely strong against the elements. The cement used in Hardieboard has high alkaline content, which makes it resistant to corrosion from acids. The sand provides added strength and durability. It’s also less likely to crack or become brittle with age than other siding options.

Hardieboard can be installed horizontally or vertically on your home with either a smooth or wood-grain texture. Both options can be painted with any color you want, or you can leave them with their original color for a natural look that doesn’t need painting.

Siding is a material which covers the exterior of your home. Your siding protects your home from the elements, and can play an important role in the value of your home. There are many types of siding on the market and you must consider many factors when choosing what type of siding to use on your house.

A major consideration is obviously cost, but you also have to consider durability, ease of installation and maintenance, energy efficiency and color selection. Two popular materials which check all of these boxes are Hardieplank and Hardieboard.
