Wonderboard is a product that many people have heard about, but few have ever used. I am writing this review because I was given a piece of Wonderboard a couple of weeks ago and decided to use it for the first time in my house. The results were better than I had expected.

What is Wonderboard?

Wonderboard is a product that is made from cement, sand and cellulose fibers that are mixed together and formed into panels. It can be used as an underlayment for tile work or as a backer for counter tops. There are several different thicknesses to choose from depending on what your needs may be.

I found that Wonderboard cuts easily with a regular skill saw with a masonry blade (although you can also use a wet saw if you prefer). The holes should be drilled out first (this will allow the water to drain away). I was concerned about how well it would cut, but I had no problems with it and it only took me about 30 minutes to do the whole project.

There are many different kinds of tile backer board. Some are made of concrete, some have a thin layer of cement on the outside and some have a layer of paper coated with asphalt on the outside. Each has its own uses and benefits but one of the most popular is Wonderboard.

What Is Wonderboard?

Wonderboard is a brand name for a particular kind of backer board made by Custom Building Products, Inc. It is also called Hardibacker, which is another brand name for this type of product. Wonderboard and Hardibacker are actually very similar in appearance and both are made by Cement board manufacturers.

Wonderboard is a thin sheet of concrete that is covered with fiberglass. It comes in either 4′ x 8′ sheets or 3′ x 5′ sheets and can be easily cut to fit your needs using a utility knife.

Wonderboard can be used to create a solid foundation for tile floors and walls, as an underlayment for slate or stone flooring, as well as an alternative to drywall when building walls around tubs and showers because it doesn’t absorb moisture like drywall does (which can cause mold problems).

Wonder Board is a cement backer board made by USG. Wonder Board is a brand name of USG and the product is similar to Hardibacker, Durock and PermaBase, which are all manufactured by competing companies. The main difference with Wonderboard is that in addition to the standard 3′ x 5′ sheets it is also available in 1/4″ thick sheets which can be used for curved or radius applications. In this article we will discuss the pros and cons of Wonderboard as well as provide installation tips as well as some common uses of the product.

WonderBoard is a modified portland cement product that was designed to be used on walls and floors behind tile. It comes in various thicknesses ranging from 1/4″ to 1/2″. The most common size used in bathrooms would be the 1/2″ but if you are going to put tile on a shower floor you should use at least 5/8″ thick material, preferably 3/4″. The reason for this is that you need enough thickness so that the screws don’t pull through the backer board.

Benefits of using WonderBoard

WonderBoard has several benefits over other types of backer boards such as durock and hardi backer. First,

WonderBoard is a product made by USG, a company that specializes in construction materials. It is used as a backer board and works great with ceramic tile. WonderBoard is a cement based product and has been around for many years.

I have worked with cement products such as RedGuard and Durock, but I have found that WonderBoard has the best combination of properties. It will not crumble like Durock unless you drop something very heavy on it and it won’t chip like RedGuard can when you are cutting it.

WonderBoard comes with an excellent fiberglass mesh covering both sides of the product. When using this product for tile, it is recommended to use a tile adhesive (mastic) rather than thinset mortar to fix your tile to the wonderboard. This is because WonderBoard has no ability to bond to the thinset itself once the water has evaporated from the mixture. Mastic on the other hand will stick well to both surfaces, which eliminates the need for screws or nails, and thus gives a much nicer finished surface.

I was at Home Depot today and saw a new product that I hadn’t seen before. I’ve been in the tile business for over 30 years now, so I usually don’t see anything new when it comes to tile or backer board. So naturally, I had to go check it out.

What is Wonder Board?

Wonder Board is a tile backer board made from cement, sand, and other additives with a fiberglass mesh bonded to both sides. It is mainly used as an underlayment for floor and wall tile applications. Wonder Board has a smooth side and a rough side that is used to allow for better mortar adhesion. The more traditional tile backer boards are made of extruded polystyrene foam (XPS) with a glass mesh face. XPS boards are much lighter than cement/sand backer boards like Wonder Board and can be cut with a utility knife. Wonder Board is very dense and heavy, making cutting difficult if not impossible in some cases.

Wonder board is available in 1/4″ and 1/2″ thicknesses, while XPS boards are typically 5/16″ or 1/2″. The difference in thickness really doesn’t make much of a difference when using the product itself; however, you
