The construction sector plays a critical role in addressing climate change, contributing 10% of global carbon emissions. To combat this, Holcim Philippines, Inc. is ramping up its efforts to engage key stakeholders and promote low-carbon and circular construction materials.

The company aims to build stronger ties with policymakers, industry players, and other stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of greener building practices. This year, Holcim will engage key stakeholders through conferences, partnerships, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to raise awareness of the importance of decarbonizing the construction industry.

“The construction sector plays a critical role in addressing climate change, contributing 10% of global carbon emissions. At Holcim Philippines, we believe that collaboration is key to advancing the use of sustainable materials and building norms,” said Jill Ramos, OIC-Chief Sustainability Officer of Holcim Philippines.

Ramos emphasized the urgency of the company’s initiatives. “We are committed to working closely with policymakers and industry leaders to bring innovative, low-carbon, and circular solutions to the forefront of the country’s construction practices. By doing so, we can help ensure a more resilient and sustainable future for the Philippines,” she said.

Holcim’s initiatives align with its broader sustainability goals, which have seen significant progress since 2018. The company has already achieved a more than 20% reduction in its carbon footprint through innovations such as blended cements, the use of alternative fuels, and increased reliance on renewable energy.

In addition to these efforts, Holcim will continue to support architects, developers, and engineers through its suite of green building solutions, including high-performance blended cements and Tector dry-mix mortars. These products are designed to reduce resource consumption while delivering superior performance.

“We have a tremendous opportunity to reshape the construction landscape in the Philippines by building more with less, recycling old materials to construct new structures, and integrating smart design and sustainable solutions. Our goal is not only to reduce our environmental footprint but also to inspire and empower the industry to embrace sustainability as the norm,” Ramos added.

Through these efforts, Holcim Philippines reinforces its commitment to contributing to the country’s net-zero goals while championing innovations that balance economic growth and environmental stewardship.
