Micro Concrete vs. Regular Concrete – is the savings worth it?

I have been asked many times about micro concrete and whether or not it is more effective than regular concrete with a client’s “before and after” images. I can vouch that there is definitely a benefit to using micro concrete over regular concrete, especially when it comes to durability and beauty. First let me explain the two different types of concrete, as they are very different from each other.

Concrete is made up of coarse aggregate (gravel), fine aggregate (sand), water and Portland cement. Regular concrete has all of the ingredients mixed in with each other with no separation between any of them. Micro concrete on the other hand has much more fine aggregate than regular concrete, so much that they are almost separate. With more room for water, micro-concrete becomes much stronger and less porous than regular concrete.

The most important aspect to consider when you are deciding whether or not to use micro-concrete is what surface you are planning on putting it on. If you are looking to resurface an existing concrete surface like a sidewalk, driveway or patio then micro-concrete may not be your best option since regular concrete will stick much better to an existing surface than micro

Micro concrete is a great alternative to regular concrete. Not only is it a third of the price, but it also dries harder and faster than regular concrete.

On this job in particular, we used micro concrete to do a small driveway that was approximately 200 square feet in size. The results were astonishing. The client was thrilled with the natural-looking stone patterned driveway and couldn’t believe we could get such great results for such a low price!

Has anyone else out there used micro concrete? The results seem to be very similar to regular concrete, and they say that it is more workable and can be used in repairs. They also claim that it will never crack or crumble since the aggregate is so small. So far I have only used it on interior floors and counter tops, but I have seen some exterior applications as well. The surface does come out a little rougher than concrete, but that can be fixed by using a polishing product. If you would like to see an example of my work using this product, please send me a message and I will show you some before and after photos.

Micro concrete is a viable alternative to regular concrete. While micro concrete is more expensive than regular concrete, it has many benefits, including the following:

1. Micro concrete is less porous.

2. Micro concrete can be used in areas where water or moisture may be an issue.

3. Micro concrete does not require as much prep work as regular concretes do.

4. Micro concrete can be colored and/or textured to match the existing features of your space (more on this in our next post).

5. Micro concrete is more durable than regular cement products, making it ideal for high traffic areas, such as entryways and hallways.

6. Micro concrete is mold resistant and does not require sealing or ongoing maintenance other than cleaning and waxing (see our Cleaning and Waxing blog post for more details).

Micro Concrete is a new product that has been introduced to the market over the last ten years. The product is made from recycled glass and cement, which allows it to be poured into concrete molds and carved into existing concrete surfaces. The resulting surface can have the look of granite or marble, but at much lower cost.

Micro Concrete has a number of advantages over regular concrete. First, Micro Concrete flooring is not as porous as regular concrete, which means that it will not stain nearly as easily. In addition, the material is flexible, which means that it can withstand heavy loads without cracking or chipping. Finally, Micro Concrete floors are much easier to maintain than regular concrete floors.

The main disadvantage of Micro Concrete flooring is that it tends to be more expensive than regular concrete floors if you are looking at a large area of flooring (more than 500 square feet). In addition, since this material is new to the market, many homeowners don’t know about its advantages or how to care for it properly. However, if you are willing to do the research and make an investment in this innovative new product, then you may find that Micro Concrete flooring is just what your home needs to stand out from its competitors!

Why micro concrete?

Micro Concrete is a cementitious, engineered overlay. The micro concrete overlay can be installed on almost any substrate.

This includes:

-Old and new concrete floors

-Brick, pavers and stone

-Wooden decks

-Terrazzo, marble or tile floors

-Mortar or mud beds

Micro concrete or micro topping is a cement-based decorative overlay, which is used in interior spaces and can be applied over any rigid substrate.

Micro concrete is one of the most popular flooring solutions at the moment, and it’s easy to see why. It can be used for a range of settings, from residential homes to commercial properties.

It’s a very versatile product, which can be coloured and trowelled by hand to create an individual and distinctive look.
