How To Clean A Bathtub Or Shower

When it comes to knowing how to clean a bathtub or shower, there are two key ingredients that will make the job much easier: elbow grease and perseverance!

You need to prepare your bathroom before you start.

If you are using a cleaning product that needs rinsing off, make sure you have a bucket of warm water with some detergent in it.

You will also need rubber gloves and cloths. This may sound excessive but you do not want to get any of the chemicals on your hands as they can cause severe burns and damage to your skin.

Wear an old pair of shoes that you can take off and throw away when you have finished. The better prepared you are the easier it will be to clean the bathroom.

1. Remove all of the items from the bathroom counter and wipe down the entire surface with a disinfecting bathroom cleaner. Pay special attention to the faucet, soap dish and toothbrush holder. Rinse with clean water and dry with a clean cloth.

2. Wipe down the front of the vanity cabinet, including all knobs and handles, with a disinfecting bathroom cleaner and rinse with clean water. Dry with a clean cloth.

The major advantage with ready mix is that it is consistent, especially if you buy from a reputable supplier. Unless you order the exact same batch of sand, cement and lime in exactly the same quantities each time, traditional mortars will vary slightly. Many suppliers and contractors will always use a particular brand of sand or cement, so this can be overcome to an extent. We find that ready mix mortar is very useful on restoration work where we don’t want to use sand and cement and instead need a specialist mortar such as lime mortar (which is softer than regular building mortar). In these cases we often use a ready mix mortar with a coloured oxides added to give the appearance of a traditional lime based mortar.

Ready mix mortar is manufactured under computer-controlled operations and transported and placed at site using sophisticated equipment and methods. In this process, the various ingredients of mortar like cement, sand, additives and water are mixed in a central mixing plant. Ready mix mortar is transported to the building site either in dry form in tankers or as a ready-to-use product in silos, barrels or bags.

Central mixing plant consists of a number of silos which store different types of dry materials like cement, additives, sands etc. and bins for storage of water. The total quantity of mortar required is determined by the volume to be filled between the blocks and the consumption rate per block. When an order for the supply of mortar is received, the required batching unit dispenses the measured quantities of different materials into a weigh bin where they are weighed separately. Then these materials are transferred to a mixer where they are thoroughly mixed with water added from time to time until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. This mixture is then transferred to transportable silos or barrels or bags as per requirement. From here, it can be carried by trucks/cranes up to desired locations where it is used directly without any further addition of water or other material.
